The Laughing Cadaver

Oh, sweet irony of sin
Ended by your hand
only to stand devoured again
You lured my foolish heart
play-acting as my savior
once I had been savored
tipped unto a pauper’s graveyard
just the earth and nameless kin
no burial home, no peace within
Oh, the mistakes of arrogant men
For infected worms hath gorged
upon my sullied flesh and
I am here again, decaying flaying skin
The Laughing Cadaver, intent upon
vengeance, offering you repentance
to begin again
by my side
a beautiful animate corpse
such as I
