September Updates
Updates from editor K.R. Wieland

Hello all!
For me, the beginning of September marks the beginning of autumn, even though I know that’s not technically true. That to say, I love this month and the cooler weather that I hope comes soon to where I live in the Midwest, and I’m excited for what’s coming next from Quill & Crow Publishing House.
At the beginning of each month, we release a new issue of The Crow’s Quill Magazine. This is an online magazine that is free to read which you can find through our website. This month’s theme is Shapeshifters and it contains four stories that explore grief, love, self-empowerment, and more. We also have two exclusive poems that explore this theme as well. To find our more about submitting to the magazine and what the upcoming themes are be sure to check the submissions page.
The release date for Blood Coven is getting close! On September 13th, you will finally get to dive into this brilliantly dark Red Riding Hood reimagining by Sabrina Voerman. Although, let’s be honest, the original Red Riding Hood was not a bright, happy tale, but this story provides more layers and gothic tones, making it the perfect combination to read as autumn approaches. With dual timelines, a coven of witches, and a sapphic love story, it has everything you need!
All the Parts of the Soul by Catherine Fearns is releasing in October. This historical fiction novel tells us about the Geneva Witch trials set in sixteenth century, but will have you question what is real. You can preorder this true story of witchcraft told through an unreliable narrator today from The Crow Shoppe.
Just recently announced is a new collection of eclectic horror stories by Cassandra L. Thompson. My Little Black Book of Horror is not just gothic, but has psychological horror, gore, and more. You can preorder paperbacks right now and it will be released in November. Cassandra is truly amazing at writing horror stories that will send a chill down your spine, so whether you’ve read any of her short stories before or not, you will definitely want this book in your hands!
Inspired by this new collection from our founder, we have some new merchandise in store, Cupcakes and Bats. You can find some fun new clothing items both for you and for kids. There’s also pet items. You can preorder any of these books and find our recent release of Ending in Ashes as well as some items inspired by Rebecca Jones-Howe’s short story collection. We try to always have new, fun items so that everyone can find something they love!
Much love from my Little Black Heart,
K.R. Wieland
