May is for More Books

Updates from editor K.R. Wieland

Hello, all!

There is just so much happening right now. Not only does May seem like one of the busiest months already, but Quill & Crow has been working extra hard to bring you even more Gothic stories and merchandise you love. So, buckle up friends, as I’ve got lots to share with you!

Some of our exciting news is that L.V. Russell’s, The Quiet Stillness of Empty Houses is now out in the world! Yes, I have mentioned this book many times within the newsletter, but it’s just that good. With spooky, old house vibes that weave into this Gothic tale, it’s one that you don’t want to miss--not to mention some unexpected twists that will keep you up late, whether you’re still reading it or not. This is definitely a story that lingers in your mind. Head to our shoppe now to get your copy!

Secondly, Violent Delights & Midsummer Dreams is getting close to release as well. We’ll be showing you the beautiful cover for this anthology across all our socials on Friday, and it’s going to be another knockout! You’ll be able to start preordering this wicked collection of Shakespearean retellings soon and it will be released on June 24th. If you like the darker side of Shakespeare, you’ll love these even more twisted tales.

As mentioned, we also have two more books coming later this year. A short story collection by Rebecca Jones-Howe, entitled Ending in Ashes, coming August 13th with her unique Neo-Gothic style. The first in a new four book series, Blood Coven by Sabrina Voerman, will be releasing September 13th. Finishing out the year will be All the Parts of the Soul by Catherine Fearns (October 20th), a dark historical fiction tale centering around the beginning of the European Witch Trials. Be sure to watch our socials and keep reading the newsletter as we’ll be talking more about all these books soon.

We have also signed a few new authors for more books to add to your Gothic-horror collection. First off, we have recently signed with Jim Horlock for his short story collection, Changes, which will be coming out next summer. Brad Acevedo, a long time Crow, has also signed for his short story collection, Mirth & Malice: Stories from the Sideshow. The title alone has me excited, and you can dive in when this collection is released in the summer of 2025. For the first time in Q&C history, we will also be publishing a memoir. Raising Loki by Elliot Manarin, coming in the spring of 2025, tells a story of healing for a traumatized raven and a grieving human. And last but not least, we have also signed Mary Rajotte for her dark fantasy novel, The Bone Key, which will be coming in autumn of 2024. We are so excited for all of these new stories and can’t wait to share them with you!

Finally, we once again have new merch in The Crow Shoppe! Cassandra has been working hard on some amazing new products. There are a ton of new mugs to join the jewelry and new Witchy Mama apparel—good for all times of the year. You’ll also find another book box especially curated for The Quiet Stillness of Empty Houses. This box will include a paperback along with a signed bookplate, a Quill & Crow candle, character cards, and more. Head to our online store today and get all your Crow apparel, books, mugs, and so much more!

Much love from my Little Black Heart,

K.R. Wieland
