Beloved, Novellas, & Poetry

Updates from editor K.R. Wieland

Hello all!

I’m not sure about you, but January seemed to go by quickly and here we are in the beginnings of February. Along with a new month comes some exciting news from Quill & Crow!

First off, not only are we currently accepting novels until March 1st, but our acquisition team is also accepting novellas. Just to refresh, novellas range from 10k-40k words. So, if you have something that you believe would fit the aesthetics of Quill & Crow, please check our submissions page for more details.

Starting the first of February through April 1, we are also accepting stories for Violent Delights & Midsummer Dreams. This next anthology will be a collection of Shakespeare retellings. We want stories that bring a fresh perspective on classic stories with dark themes and gothic or macabre elements. For more information and how to submit, please see our anthology submissions page on our website.

The Crows are back with another volume of Crow Calls! Volume V will be published on February 14. This is the perfect accompaniment to your Valentine’s Day with poetry that centers around romance, more so, the dark and tragic kind. Be sure to preorder your copy today and be sure to order our Dead Poetry Box, which contains all four volumes and a 10oz candle, while supplies last.

We are excited to announce that our Rituals & Grimoires anthology will be published on March 20th. This anthology is centered around wizardry and dark academia and I am looking forward to getting my hands on this collection! Be sure to keep an eye out for the cover reveal and preorder information.

With the beginning of a new month, we once again have a new issue of The Crow’s Quill available. This month’s theme is tragic romance and the stories and poems inside are perfect. While you await all the upcoming publications, we hope the magazine helps to satiate your need for Gothic literature and poetry. As always, to see upcoming themes and to learn how to submit both short stories and poetry, please see our website.

Speaking of The Crow's Quill, if you are a Black author/poet, please consider submitting to our Beloved Contest for a change to win some books and a (paid) spot in our next issue. Visit our page for more details.

Much love from my Little Black Heart,

K.R. Wieland
